About

NetPay UK is a free take-home pay calculator for the United Kingdom. Type in your gross salary and instantly see what actually lands in your bank account — after income tax, National Insurance, student loan repayments, and pension contributions.

Why we built it

Payslips are confusing. Between income tax bands, National Insurance thresholds, student loan plans, and pension deductions, most people have only a rough idea of their real take-home pay. NetPay UK does the maths for you, using the actual HMRC rates for the 2026/27 tax year (6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027) for England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

What the calculator covers

  • Income tax — personal allowance (£12,570), basic rate (20%), higher rate (40%), and additional rate (45%), including the personal allowance taper above £100,000
  • National Insurance — employee Class 1 contributions (8% then 2%)
  • Student loans — all five plans: Plan 1, Plan 2, Plan 4 (Scotland), Plan 5, and Postgraduate Loan
  • Pension — salary-sacrifice contributions and how they reduce your taxable pay

A note on accuracy

Our calculations are based on published HMRC rates and thresholds, and we check them carefully. But tax rules can change — particularly around the Autumn Budget — and everyone’s circumstances differ (tax codes, benefits in kind, multiple jobs). Treat our figures as a reliable estimate, not financial advice. If you need advice for your specific situation, speak to a qualified accountant or financial adviser.
